Sales & Retail Representative
This position requires providing customers with high quality customer service and a pleasant shopping experience, to direct them to our products, services, course options, and to help them make informed decisions about their beekeeping purchases and practices to support customer success as a beekeeper. In particular this role focuses on helping new beekeepers get paired with the necessary equipment, training and resources.
This job is ideal for a self starting, independent worker that can grow with the position. Most aspects of the job can be trained for the right candidate.
Responsibilities and Duties
Primary Responsibility – Assisting customers in store, over the phone, and via email with product, service & general beekeeping inquiries.
Taking orders from customers and providing product solutions. Processing of orders and payments.
Efficiently process quotes, orders and invoices will be a continuous requirement, as will the correct entry and processing of payment.
Filling orders from customers, order picking and packing, & preparation for shipping.
Conduct opening & closing procedures including daily sales reconciliation.
Upkeep of displays, stocking areas, and shipping area and maintaining the general tidiness and cleanliness of the shop.
Product building with power tools.
Participation in the mandatory year-end inventory.
This position requires very little direct beekeeping, but this role may offer opportunities to do so in the future.
Skills, Knowledge & Experience Essential
Competent knowledge of at least the basics of beekeeping skills. Knowledge of beekeeping equipment, tools, diseases, pests and their treatments. At least one season of beekeeping, formal education, or several years of hobby beekeeping experience and the ability to demonstrate your knowledge and willingness to learn more.
Previous retail, sales and/or management experience is an asset.
Basic computer competency, including use of email, Google Docs/Sheets, MS Excel, Trello and Shopify.
Warehouse and/or order fulfillment experience is an asset.
Experience with social media and online platforms such as Facebook, Instagram and newsletter platforms.
